Solo Leveling Season 2 adapts the Jeju Island arc — arguably the most anticipated storyline in the manhwa — and A-1 Pictures rises to the occasion with production values that exceed even the strong first season.
The Jeju Island raid brings together Korean and Japanese hunters in a joint operation against the ant monsters that have overrun the island. The international cooperation angle adds political dimension to what could have been a straightforward monster-hunting arc, and the anime expands on this aspect with original scenes that deepen the world-building.
Sung Jinwoo's shadow army has grown significantly since Season 1, and the animation team clearly enjoys rendering the varied designs of his soldiers. Igris, Iron, and Tank each have distinct combat animations that make group battles legible despite the large number of combatants on screen.
The season's standout sequence — Jinwoo's solo raid on the ant queen's nest — is a masterclass in power fantasy choreography. Hiroyuki Sawano's score, a new addition for Season 2, amplifies the epic scale without overwhelming the quieter character moments that punctuate the action.
Critically, the season addresses a weakness of the source material by expanding the roles of supporting hunters. Cha Hae-In receives additional scenes that establish her as more than just a love interest, and the Korean S-rank hunters are given distinct personalities that were underdeveloped in the manhwa.
Rating: 4.4 out of 5. Season 2 improves on the source material while delivering the spectacle fans expected. The Jeju Island arc is the anime event of Summer 2026.
