Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 expands the cast significantly as the Cataclysm arc introduces international Defense Force officers and new kaiju threats. Here is a complete guide to every new character and their voice actors.
Isao Shinomiya (voiced by Tomokazu Sugita) — The Director General of the Defense Force and Kikoru's father. Sugita brings unexpected warmth to a character whose manga depiction initially reads as purely intimidating. His combat style, which uses a Numbers weapon derived from Kaiju No. 2, will be a highlight of the season's action.
Gen Narumi (voiced by Kaito Ishikawa) — The captain of the First Division and wielder of Kaiju No. 1's power. Ishikawa's performance captures both Narumi's surface-level laziness (he is introduced playing video games during a kaiju alert) and the lethal competence beneath.
Numbers Weapons — The season introduces the full concept of weaponized kaiju cores, each granting unique abilities. The visual design of each Numbers weapon reflects its source kaiju's characteristics, creating distinctive combat styles for each wielder.
The Cataclysm arc's central threat — a coordinated emergence of multiple kaiju across Japan — raises the strategic stakes beyond simple monster-of-the-week encounters. The new characters are integrated into this framework with clear roles in the Defense Force's response hierarchy.
